about

Ogham Inside the Night was originally released through Iceflower/Trisol (Tri 240) in 2005. It came as a double digipack CD, the second half being a re-issued Sex & Wildflowers. I don't think I've ever put as much research into the themes of an album as I did with Ogham. Each letter of the Ogham alphabet also represents a tree and a musical note. This made it perfect for the themes of nature, music and language that I explored in this album. Many of the same musical themes also reappear in the songs across the album. It was also the first album where I wrote, practised and performed the loops live before committing them to a recording. Something I have just repeated with the 2014 album Each Divine Spark (DVLP-7/Redroom 012).

I also invited lots of guests to contribute to the album, many of whom were artists I was working with at the time. Jason White deserves special mention. He features on many of the early Sieben albums, providing beats with his cajon, this time on pretty much all the tracks on this album. Other guests are as follows: Ogham The Spirit - Manos K on guitar, Stamos A on bass, Kostas T on clarinet, Manos V on french horn, Viki S on cello, Sofia S on flute. Recorded at Active Studio, Athens. Ogham In The Soul - Carlos Boll and April Howden provide vocals. Ogham the Melody – Contributions from Italian band Larsen: Fabrizio Modenese Palumbo on e-bow and slide guitar, Marco 'Il Bue' Schiavo on xylophone, Paulo Dellapiana on accordion and keys, Paul Beauchamp on synth, Roberto Maria Clemente on guitar. Recorded at OFF, Turin, Italy. Ogham The Knowledge – Contributions from U.S. Band Faith & The Muse: Guitar and vocals by William Faith, and vocals by Monica Richards.
Ogham On The Hill – The late Andy Weaver on vocals. R.I.P. Andy. Ogham Inside The Night – April Howden, Carlos Boll and Simone Salvatori on vocals. Ogham The Blood – Carlos Boll on guitar, Jane Howden on vocals. Ogham The Blade - Simone Salvatori from Spiritual Front on vocals. Ogham Carved The Tree – Chris Eckman from The Walkabouts on vocal and guitar.
The songs on this album were inspired by, and inspired photographs by Danish photographer Kristine Haffgaard. (www.palimpsestphoto.dk) My heartfelt thanks once more, to all the contributors to this album.
